The strength to lead. The will to endure.
Vote David dotson for mayor
#dotson4mayor
Monroe deserves leadership built on service.
service before self
I have dedicated most of my adult life to the protection and service of others — as a Marine, a police officer, and a City Council member — always prioritizing the safety, well-being, and future of others first.
FAMILY-CENTERED
Strong families are the foundation of strong communities.
I believe in Republican, conservative values that honor faith, family, and freedom — ensuring that Monroe remains a place where families can grow, children are safe, and our shared values are preserved for generations to come.
common sense leadership
I lead with integrity and focus on what truly matters for Monroe. By putting community needs above personal politics, I always work to create a safer, stronger, and more prosperous city for all residents.
PROVEN LEADER
serving the MONROE community is in my dNA
Before being elected to the Monroe City Council in 2023, I served on the Monroe–Charlotte Airport Commission and the Monroe Planning Board. My dedication to Monroe runs deep — my children live here, and I plan to remain an active part of this community that I am proud to serve and hope to continue leading.
Too much, too fast
Our area is experiencing incredible growth — but it’s critical that we manage it the right way. During my time on the Planning Board, I spent hundreds of hours researching and helping to rewrite the Unified Development Ordinance to reduce the density of future residential growth. I continued that work after being elected to City Council, pushing for changes that protect our infrastructure, utility capacity, and preserve the hometown feel that makes Monroe special.
I am the only candidate for Mayor who can truly say I have taken concrete action to address high-density residential growth in Monroe.
Keeping Monroe Affordable and Efficient
I believe in responsible spending and protecting Monroe homeowners from unnecessary tax increases. I did not vote for the last budget that raised your real estate taxes. Moving forward, we must keep administrative costs low and ensure city government operates efficiently. Every dollar should be spent wisely to benefit our community, protect taxpayers, and support the services and infrastructure that Monroe residents rely on.
Helped create Monroe’s first animal welfare committee
I helped create and was the first chairman of the Animal Welfare Committee in Monroe. This committee: improved tethering laws that essentially ending tethering, banned sales of puppies and kittens in parking lots, and pushed for funding a city-specific spay and neuter program.
When a city prioritizes animal welfare, it strengthens public safety, public health, and the quality of life for its citizens.
